To manage the financial affairs of the City professionally and responsibly to provide related support services effectively and efficiently for residents and City operations through Information Technology, centralized Purchasing, Accounting, Budgeting, Financial Management and Reporting.
Recognitions
The City has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 25 fiscal years and consecutively for the past 17 years.
Department Functions
The Finance Department is responsible for ensuring adequate controls are in place, funds are properly accounted and reported in financial statements, audits of the City's financial records are accomplished in accordance with Florida Statutes, budgets and millage rates are enacted in accordance with Florida Statutes, Purchasing activities are accomplished in accordance with the City's Purchasing Code and Florida Statutes, and the security and functioning of all systems within the City.
The Finance Department includes the Director and Assistant Director of Finance with the following divisions: (1) the Accounting/Financial Operations Division supervised by the Chief Accountant, (2) the Purchasing Division supervised by the Purchasing Manager and (3) the Information Technology Division supervised by the Information Technology Manager.

REVOLVING LOAN FUND PROGRAM
(Home Ownership Program)
The City of Belle Glade has reorganized and renamed the City’s Housing Development Program and Policy for first time homebuyers. Formerly known as the Community Revitalizing Initiative Program (CRIP) and Pocket of Poverty Housing Program (POP), the City’s housing program is now known as the “City of Belle Glade Revolving Loan Fund Program (RLF).” Revising the program has afforded the City the opportunity to expand the program to include consideration of any eligible credit worthy first time home buyer applicant.
Limited funds are available for construction or purchase of an existing home for eligible credit worthy area applicants. As such, applicants are processed on a first come, first served basis of completed applications, along with the applicant’s ability to qualify.
